“Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true”
~ Seymour Hersh
Seymour Hersh needs no introduction, but for those of you new to journalism, he is the Pulitzer prize-winning journalist who was made famous for exposing the U.S. Army’s cover up of the Mai Lai massacre in 1969. This time he’s on a new mission. In a recent interview with the Guardian he’s called out the media for being too weak and “pathetic” to challenge Obama, and has dropped a bombshell by claiming the U.S. Navy’s raid to kill Osama Bin Laden was an outright lie.
Mr. Hersh didn’t expound on the details of his claim, but has devoted an entire chapter to the subject in his new book coming out on national security. In his interview with the Guardian he said, “The Pakistanis put out a report, don’t get me going on it. Let’s put it this way, it was done with considerable American input. It’s a bullshit report”. He continues on by saying the Obama administration is far worse than the Bush administration. “Do you think Obama’s been judged by any rational standards? Has Guantanamo closed? Is a war over? Is anyone paying any attention to Iraq? Is he seriously talking about going into Syria? We are not doing so well in the 80 wars we are in right now, what the hell does he want to go into another one for. What’s going on [with journalists]?”
I never thought I would see the day where I would agree with the conclusion; The Bush administration was easier to deal with than the Obama administration, but that day has indeed arrived. The media doesn’t attack Obama as they did Bush, which makes him that much more dangerous. The Obama administration will take us to war with a smile on their face, and a pat on the back.
The most important point that was glossed over in the Guardian article is the Osama Raid; everything else is immaterial. We all know that Obama is treated easy by the media, and we also know we’re over extended militarily, and that we’re being spied upon by the NSA. The Osama raid however, opens up a Pandora’s box of accusations and conspiracy, which leads us directly back to 9/11/01 and origins of al-Qaeda.
Hersh’s claim also adds weight to those of us who smelled something rotten in the raid from the beginning. I was immediately suspicious when Osama was reported to have been buried at Sea, the photos weren’t released, and then all those members of Seal Team 6 were killed in a helicopter attack in Afghanistan.
I’ll be looking forward to reading his book when it comes out.
